Finally, a new episode to pour over. And an excellent one might I add. Sorry if it jumps all over the place. Won't waste your time so here it is:Starts out with Locke working in some kind of Wal-Mart type store. His watch is on his left wrist. Can't read the time very well. On regular speed looks like 10:00. The funniest part of the scene is what was in the background. The stuffed animals in the back have 3, maybe 4 different animals. White Bengal tiger, lions, and bears. Yep, you guessed it..lions, tigers, and bears..oh my. Probably just a fun little thing from the writers. There is also what looks like an elephant. No real shape but it's grey. Moving on.... The mouse trap part was very interesting. It parallels the event that is about to happen. As Interesting line from Locke, "you start with all these parts off the board and then one by one, build a trap". It didn't really strike me as much until I heard the words ?off the board'. Reminded me of the lostaways being off the board so to speak. Is this foreshadowing of a trap? Probably reading too much into it but we'll see. Locke starts the trap at the same time his mom enters into frame. As the ball rolls down he approaches her. When she asks where to footballs are, he answers 8 for regulation, 15 for Nerf. An obvious 815 reference. Once she has him intrigued the game finishes and traps the mouse. Plays out trapping Locke at the same time trapping the toy mouse. What's the deal with the woman being the last piece to trap the mouse? I looked it up and this is a standard piece. A prop of convenience maybe? Arms look like she is holding something in a cradle like position. There are big round balls in the background. Globe reference? Maybe. But kind of a stretch. Moving on to the hatch. When are they going to open this impregnable tube-like thing? I posted this before so this may not be new. The rivets on the outer most part equal 14. second in, 10, and on the smallest part, 10. just numbers as far as I can tell. We know Boone stole the axe. Was this an early attempt to open the hatch? I think it was. Hence the much larger second attempt. Assuming it was their second attempt. The glass is really strong. What could open this? Maybe if they harnessed a bellow system so focus the heat on the window? Could take some work but it is time to switch gears. Credit Bry with the idea. Thanks. As for the shape...I have no idea. Maybe something scientific but I really have no idea. The trebuchet doesn't work and this really infuriates Locke. First time in a while we see him lose his cool. Last time was ?others' speech on beach. He really expected his idea to work. I think Locke is assuming too much. He almost expects the island to help him out. This goal he really has to work for. No wave of magic want will open this thing. Time for Locke to face a test. Been coming there for 2 weeks, 14 days He tells Boone his life story is boring. It does seem to be. Until dad and mom enter. The trebuchet unleashes about ? ton of force. Just a note. When the trebuchet doesn't work and smashes, if you listen you will hear a slight flap of distinct bird wings. I listened to this and there is definitely a different flap heard than the ones in the background. It's quick, but there. How freaky was the part when he tests his legs for pain? Right leg first, left second. First was the shrapnel, second a baby/ diaper pin, and lastly hot coals from a fire. Each test should be more and more painful but he doesn't feel a thing. It was interesting he only pokes his legs with the needle and burns the sole of his foot. Does this symbolize something? Probably not. At the end of the scene he gets a weird look on his face. Almost like he knows now what he has to do. Does he realize that after helping so many others, it is now time for the island to truly test him? Chasing mom in the parking lot. As he is following her a car comes out and hits him in the right leg. In the diner you can see her scoop 3 maybe 4 scoops of sugar/ powdered cream in to her coffee, you see 3 on screen but her hand is moving away from cup when camera opens on them. Hence the possible 4th. She tells him he was immaculately conceived. Mom is a little ?off' in the head. Or so she would make you think. Tells him he is the special part of a design. Alluding to the kidney transplant? The hallucination/test: "the island will tell us what to do"- Locke. When Boone first hears this he seems shocked a bit. The second time he uses it not as shocked. But, the first time was before Locke's hallucination. The second time was during it. It's after Boones critical rant, Locke sees the plane crashing. Boone looks up and appears to see it too. Locke then sees a past and future event, the plane crashing and Boone's bloody face. At this point we hear something break. Sounds like something clay or porcelain. Doesn't sound like glass. Then we see Locke's mom pointing in a direction saying over and over again "Theresa falls up the stairs, Theresa falls down the stairs". Doesn't really know what it means. There is also a clip of him in his old wheelchair. As far as I can tell it is the same one that was left on the beach. He seems genuinely afraid to be back in the chair. Almost in disbelief that it is happening. This hallucination/vision seems to be having a more and more negative effect on Locke. Wearing down on his psyche even more. Perhaps his belief in island is being shaken. He wakes up and seems to realize it is his time now and he knows he just had a vision of some kind. Wakes Boone up too. Here comes some pointless details: Foosball table in the background with a snack machine. Obviously in the break room. Emily Anna Beth Locke. She has a California driver's license. Picture:http://www.lost-media.com/modules.php?name=coppermine&file=displayimage&album=358&pos=125here is a screen capture of the Santa Rosa admission form. Some were saying this was the same place Hurley may have stayed at. Can anyone confirm this?http://www.lost-media.com/modules.php?name=coppermine&file=displayimage&album=358&pos=128other than the obvious info on this form, does it look like the D is circled for marital status? Hard to see but if so that could mean her and pops were married? If so, this makes their plan even more sinister. Locke goes to visit his dad. After the guard makes the call, Locke is let in rather easily. Like he was expected. Locke's dad seems very likeable. Takes Locke bird hunting. First reference to hunting a bird. Locke tells Boone of his hallucination. Boone makes crack about crazy paste he put on his head. Locke laughs at the comment. Is this now their secret inside joke? Does this mean the paste really was for hallucinating? Brings up Theresa and the stairs. This disturbs Boone. Helps convince him of John's mission. Walking through the jungle, Locke pulls out the compass. Could be the one he gave to Sayid. This was interesting to me because it ties in well with him losing faith in the island. Before when he was on the top of the world he didn't need it. Now after the leg test his confidence is shaken and needs to rely again on manmade tools to guide him to where he needs to go. Locke's walking becomes labored. Falls for the first time. Finds rosaries that belong to the Nigerian ?priest'. Clothing has been decomposing anywhere from 2-10 years. According to Locke. Interesting how Locke knows exactly how to get the body down. One tug and that's it. When he removes the pen from the pocket, Locke has the rosaries around his left wrist. It is the only time we see this. As they continue, Locke falls a second time. Blames the incident on the shrapnel wound. Boone if forced to carry him. I forgot but is this where Locke comes clean about him being in a wheelchair? Or was it the next time he fell? I can't remember. Flashback to Locke in dad's house again. Meeting time was confused. Dad said 12, Locke thought he said 11. I think a total setup. As Locke enters the room there is a globe on the left side. A real fancy one. Has a really nice stand. Another globe sighting. The dialysis machine is a nice added sympathy touch. After dialysis is complete they go bird hunting again. As Boone and Locke keep going, Boone puts Locke down. This is when Boone confesses his dirty little secret. He tells how Theresa used to be the nanny. He would bug her by constantly calling her on the intercom. One day she slipped and fell down the stairs. He was 6 when it happened. Did Boone's constant annoyance cause her death? This is when I started to think maybe this episode is also about Boone. Boone is the one that completely believes in Locke. Even physically carries him to help him follow his vision. These may be some kind of other tests designed for Boone. Help him believe. Locke at one point says to Boone, "Help me up son." Locke says "now it's trying to take it back and I don't know why" Is ?it' the island? I think he does. He believes it is the island that gave him the ability to walk. After the leg poking moment his faith was shaken and since then doubt has slowly set it. Even to the point where he can't walk anymore. Is it more mental than physical or a little of both? Locke knows Jack can't help him; this is where he falls a third time. Locke seems to think finding the plane will lead to the hatch being opened. He's part right. The plane is finally found. Somehow the island led them there. Things seem to be coming together for Locke. Cuts to Locke and dad walking through field. I know this may be much but look at this picture.http://www.lost-media.com/modules.php?name=coppermine&file=displayimage&album=358&pos=391I thought color of the poles on each side was interesting. Probably means nothing though. Dad says to Locke ?let's find your bird'. I know it was said after Locke shot the bird but I think there was a deeper meaning there. Back to the plane. Locke tells Boone he has to climb and look inside the pane. Boone the foolish believer does it. Rips off door pretty easily. Gets into plane and finds heroin. Is this a Locke saving Charlie reference? 2 maps, one of the Sahara and one of Nigeria As Boone gets closer and closer to finding a way to reach the outside world, the plane steadily starts to collapse. This gets Locke excited as if he has found his purpose. Boone throws down heroin and this disillusions Locke. Falls down again, can't walk again. The plane slips a little as Boone is climbing When Boone finds the radio you hear distinct birds wings flapping. Locke realizes this too late and tries to stop Boone. Once the contact starts to be made, it is found it is all over. Plane crashes in a real bad way. I didn't catch the back and forth between Boone and the radio person. This moment causes Locke to force himself to walk and get Boone to safety. How does he overcome his disability? Mental or physical? What's the motivation? I am going to tie up some lose ends and get away from the Boone Locke part for a moment. In hospital Locke and dad both say the transplant ?was meant to be'. Also says ?see you on the other side'. I noticed Locke never calls him dad. Correct me if I am wrong. After the surgery Locke feels used. Mom breaks news. What awful parents. Gets himself out of bed to see dad who has already checked out. As he arrives we see it was left kidney that was removed. Dad gives him the ice treatment. More rejection. I wonder how this plays into his ability to walk or not to walk. Is it more psychological than physical? This episode would lead you to believe it might be. Maybe that is Locke's demon he needed to get over. Scott/Steve is one of the three making noise that is driving Sawyer crazy I loved the interview between Jack and Sawyer. The sexual questions were either meant to embarrass him for a laugh or Jack wanted to ?expose' some things to Kate. She may already have assumed but sometimes it's different when you hear it. You can tell Jack was having fun with him because when questioned by Kate, Jack already knew he needed glasses. Speaking of the glasses. A lot of work goes into making them. The time Jack spends finding the proper lens's. All the way to Sayid meticulously crafting the hybrid pair. And I don't think it is an accident one side was black ( R ) and whitish ( L ). This is a very nice gesture on the part of all parties involved. Everyone seems to be bonding. Back at camp, Jack opens a box that is within a suitcase of some kind and a smile crosses his face. I wonder what is in the box. Locke brings back a very badly injured Boone. He lies to Jack about him slipping off the cliff while hunting. I don't think Jack buys it. Then he disappears to the hatch. He appears to have his ability to walk back. At the hatch he cries. I don't have the transcript of it yet. "Why did you do this to me?' he cries out. Referring to the island or his mom and dad? One more person with daddy issues. And then it happens....a light comes on. As Locke looks into it there is a distinct undulating hum. Can't describe it in words but sounds mechanical in a way. That's it. Hope you enjoy. Sorry for the length but this episode was packed with stuff. I'm sure I missed a bunch so feel free to correct me or add stuff so I can go back and look again.
