Here we go again. Most of the stuff here is simple, easy to catch stuff. Sometimes certain quotes stick out and I write them down. I don't know if they have a meaning or not, I let you decide that. Once again, these were written down as the show went on so there isn't a real continuity. I will do my best. Here we go. Boone's left eye opens. Beaten this point to death. Shannon's feet swell. I ask all women who read this to let us know what things can make a womans feet swell. As a guy I have never experienced this. Your insight could help. Hurley's original plea seemd at first to be one for the best interest of the camp. After his talk with Jack when Jack mentions Jin catching more than enough fish. Hurley won't eat it due to the ?bruised honor' scenario. So was Hurley's plea to Boone selfish so he won't have to deal with the Jin issue? Maybe. Kate also questions why would Locke want to keep hunting to feed everyone? Is Kate suspicious of Locke and his motives? I don't care for her attitude regarding Locke. What is she contributing besides tracking boar and picking seeds? That's probably just my personal opinion of Kate creeping in. A quicky on who will die. I really don't know, but I don't think it will be Jin. They wrote him as a fisherman for a reason. Without Jin who would get the fish? Sure we could assume other survivors are doing it but all we have to focus on right now is Jin. Until they show other survivors getting fish we are left to presume Jin is the only one. "we don't want to make an enemy of him. We're gonna need him on our side"- another cryptic quote from Locke. Foreshadowing a split in the camp? We get some nice shots of the hatch in this one. The top 2 levels of rivets have 10 bolts in them a piece. The lowest part appears to also have 10 but it is hard to tell. Too many things in the way. Interesting none the less. I wonder if it was planned or whether they just ordered it from ?hatch's R us'. Boone says it seems like it was made out of cement. For me this clinches it. The main hatch is obviously metal. Even a diva like Boone could be able to tell the difference between concrete and steel. Locke doesn't correct him so I am going to say it is concrete. It also appears to have a slight curve to it. Unfortunately there is no good overhead vies of it to post a link. Another thought on the hatch. Boone says the glass isn't breaking even though there are no apparent scratches on the glass. Does this line indicate they have been trying brute force and are now forced to think it out? Maybe Boone took a couple of whacks at it and that is all it took to convince him. If I were Boone, brute force would be my first recourse. And now the potion Locke was mixing. Was it antibiotic or was it a drug to induce hallucination? I don't really know. I want to believe it was for infection. Boone accuses Locke of drugging him. All Locke says in response was giving him an experience that was vital for survival on the island. Vital, eh? Does this mean someone will need an ?experience' on the island to survive some future situation? When Locke is mixing it, he says it is for later. This has always seemed odd to me. Does Locke already know he end result having to knock out Boone? He does give him one chance to rethink it. He gave Charlie three. Similar situation. So I am on the side of Locke knocked him out. I don't think Boones hallucination started until a little later. We do see him almost asleep and he wakes up when he hears Shannon screaming. It is at this point his ?experience' begins. At least in my opinion. They have been going back to the hatch for 2 days. Michelangelo's Davis took 4 months of pre-vis and 3 years to complete. Just posting raw info. Although what Locke says after his speech is interesting, "Well, that's what we have to figure out. That's why we're sitting here. I mean, how do you open a hatch that has no handle, no latch, no discernable way of opening it?". He then glances at Boone and gives him a look. Once again I believe there was dual meaning to what he said. He was referring not only to the hatch but Boone also. Just my opinion. Locke says he needs proper motivation. I guess Shannon's danger is that motivation. This danger will lead to her death and Boones release. Brian, 3rd guy Boone has had to buy off, $25,000 first offer, $50,000 second offer. Wasn't Walts step dad also named Brian? I do think Kate was on the run. Bali to explore? Don't you mean Bali to disappear? She travels a lot. Another interesting quote comes from Hurley this time. Normally I didn't think much of it but he said one word that made me want to rewind. It was mutation. The full line is "do you understand infection, gangrene, mutation?'. Now infection and gangrene would be a normal response to being stung by a seas urchin, but mutation? I just thought the writers put that in there maybe as a hint. Vague as it is it could still be some foreshadowing. And I saw this posted by someone else about the fans writing the show. When Hurley says there is a rumor Jin can speak English. This could be a hat tip to us fans but it probably isn't. Nice to think about though. I also thought it was interesting when Sayid was making a homemade compass. After he rubs the needle on it, he places the magnet right on top of the map. Is this more foreshadowing? Is where he put the magnet a clue to where the magnetic disturbance we all think exists? It's a big magnet so it takes up a lot of space. I also want to mention the second ship on the map points right towards the magnet. If it is a clue, it's vague. As for my opinion on Locke giving Sayid his compass, I think it is very simple. Due to Locke becoming more in tune with the island, he simply doesn't need it. I can't remember where I posted it but he looses his watch later on. I think during Outlaws. This shows me Lockes wayning dependence of material things like the compass and the watch. He no longer needs to tell time cause he has a pretty good idea what time it is. Now for the discrepancy of the compass. This is where some will say I am reading too much into it and that may be true. But doesn't hurt to take a few minutes and take a second look at it. Correct me if I am wrong but on a standard compass you have north and true north, right? There were 2 lines marked on the compass. One at a direct 90 degree angle and another one just off to its left. Is the 90 degree angle one north and the one off to its left true north? There are 66 incriments/ degrees on the compass (upper numbers). Anyway, there are two sets of numbers. One on top and one in the middle. The ones on top say north is 56 degrees and true north at 60. Discrepancy of 4 degrees. It appears north is 10 degrees off and true north 6 degrees off from where it should be. The middle numbers say north is at 320 and true north at 340. Difference of 20. I don't know how to read a compass so help on this would be appreciated. I don't think they showed us a closeup of the compass for no reason. Do compasses break easily? I think some magnetic anomaly is affecting it. Back to Boone and Shannon. Locke tells Boone camp is 4 miles west. Same direction Sayid asked Jack to figure out. When Boone asks ?which way is west?' Locke looks at him and ever so slightly shakes his head from left to right. Kind of like disappointment he can't figure out something so simple, knowing he soon will. Anyone else notice this, if he is so concerned for her safety why does he run so far ahead? Maybe it's just how it was shot but if it were me I would run behind to protect whoever I was protecting. Bird noises and the monster. Always a good indicator something is about to happen. Sound a lot like when something frightens the animals in a certain spot and the birds fly away to safety. After they run away again, Shannon is lifted up and then swings upside down. Boone runs back and looks. I believe he has seen the monster. Even in a hallucinated state this would have some affect on him. The look on his face is interesting. It looks like one of total disbelief. Disbelief his sister is being killed right in front of him or disbelieve in what the monster actually is? Don't know. Maybe both. When he finds her there appears to be 8 cuts on her body, 9 if you count the slashed throat. Although one of the body wounds doesn't fully appear making the possible total number of cuts 8. I am not reading anything too much into it. Just throwing it out there. And I would like a second opinion but do her eyes look like they are missing? There is no blood coming from them so I am not sure. They just looked really black. Correct me if I am wrong but didn't Charlie look at something in the pilot episode? I thought I remembered that. Locke lies to 2 people this episode, Sayid and Jack. I think they are just white lies but lies nonetheless. Jack calls him John. One of the only people to do so. Shows they have a nice relationship. Mutual respect. Another double meaning line from Locke. When asked about the boar, Locke says "I'm afraid they're beginning to migrate outside our valley. They're smart animals, and smart animals adapt quickly when a new predator is introduced into their environment.". Is he referring to the Lostaways having to ?see' before being able to survive. He does tell Boone his expierance he is about to go through is ? Charlie says something interesting too, "Trust him? No offense, mate, but if there's one person on this island I would put my absolute faith in to save us all it would be John Locke." What does he mean by ?save us all'? Charlie has already been ?saved'. Or maybe I am overanalyzing again. When Sun asks Kate if she has ever lied to a man she loved, Kate gets a look on her face as if she has. Big surprise there. Not a real shocker. What was the lie I wonder? Did it cause the death of the man she loved? We will have to see. Similar lamp shade again in Boone's hotel room. A lot of things happen to Boones left side. He has wounds on his wrist and bicep on his left side. Shannon starts kissing his left ear. Brian punches him twice in the left side of the face. And he has what I found to me very interesting, a brush burn on his left cheek. Why did I find this interesting? Let me tell you.. I first noticed this seemingly harmless wound at the very end of the show. I knew it was there I just never paid attention to it. This meant I had to go all the way back to the beginning and watch all the Boone scenes frame by frame. I know some will accuse me of being over analytical but those who know me know I don't post something as detailed without doing my homework. I think there is some symbolic importance to it and that is all. This ties in with the rope marks on his neck too. I am just going to type all I noticed and wrote down. Maybe we can put our minds together and figure something out. At the beginning of the show we get a clear shot of his cheek. There is a little redness that. And in case you want to know, I did go back and look at an older episode and it is not there at all. The appearance of this mark get more interesting. Here is a pic:http://www.lost-media.com/modules.php?name=coppermine&file=displayimage&album=167&pos=15When he approaches Sayid I noticed the mark is a little more scratchy looking. This sticks around all through the hatch scene and up to the point where he and Shannon are being chased. 2http://www.lost-media.com/modules.php?name=coppermine&file=displayimage&album=167&pos=70Couldn't tell a lot of difference if it was bad or worse. When they are in the safety tree, Boone looks to his right, showing us a clear shot of his left cheek. There is no mark at all.http://www.lost-media.com/modules.php?name=coppermine&file=displayimage&album=167&pos=403Then when they go to leave, the cheek mark comes back but there are no visible marks around his neck. As they walk and Shannon becomes more annoying asking him all kinds of questions, cheek mark gets redder and the rope marks around the neck are back. Then the monster comes back. Two trees are pulled up, or pushed up from an underground bunker and they start to run. Once again Boone outruns his sister and she pays for it. As he turns to look at the monster the cheek wound is still there. Can't see the neck. As he goes to look for her, neck and cheek marks are still present. He now has a bleeding wound on his upper bicep. And although there isn't a picture of it, before they scurry into the safety tree, the wound is exactly where she touches him on his left bicep. Could probably be from running in the woods. I just found it odd. When he approaches the body it doesn't really show his left cheek but if I believe my notes, I wrote there were no visible marks on the cheek anymore. Looking at the screencaps you can't tell. I will have to go home and watch that part again. Now I know what everyone is saying. Dude, looking too much into it. Bad makeup artist or something. Normally I would be on the side of practicality. And that may be. But it was this picture that made me re-check every part to follow the progression:http://www.lost-media.com/modules.php?name=coppermine&file=displayimage&album=167&pos=794Now go and look at the first link and the last one and tell me I am seeing something. I might be. I know this, it isn't shadows causing the mark on his face. To many frames of it looking the same. It is distinctly different than the red spot he had earlier. Theories: Boone started to get sick (obsession with sister). Locke saw this and knew it was time to fast track his encounter with the island. Is this how infection starts? And when he finally let Shannon go, did the wound heal itself? Is Locke's scar similar? Was Locke the first one infected and his experience with the island caused it to heal? Maybe it is meant to be more symbolic than anything. Maybe it is all my wild imagination. I am going to try and find newer pictures of Boone. If anyone else does and finds them in the next episode and wants to post them here, please warn us if they are spoilers. I want to know as little as possible about next weeks episode. The reason I brought this up was to try and shed light on the issue of the hallucination. Maybe he was sleepwalking and based on the marks on his neck and face, we can figure out what the heck happened. They show his left side too many times to ignore the detail they put in every episode. I guess that's it.
