Ok, here it is. I watched the crap out of this episode. This is everything I came across. If some feels like fluff that is because there just wasn't as much in this one as the others as far as I can tell. As usual this will be all over the place, but if you know me you know that is how it is. Here we go.Sawyer tracks Kate (poorly). She hears him and becomes startled. Grabs a rock and lobs it into the jungle. Hits Sawyer in the knee. The first time I watched this I immiediately thought that was a heck of a shot. Maybe I am looking too much into this but my first thought was did her initial fear, with the help of the island, ?guide' the rock to Sawyers knee? Probably a stretch but we have seen stranger things happen in this island.
Kates comment about everyone eating a lot made me think eventually if the camp eats all the food located where they are, they will have to expand out and would be forced to explore more of the island if they want more fruit. At least those who gather the food. Just a thought
Kate and Sawyer have their second major fun time bonding moment. The first being the ?I never' game. These two kids were dunking, cliff jumping and Sawyer was tickeling her. I think there is more to this relationship than with Jack. Lets face it...Sawyer and Kate have more in common.
One of the freakiest things I came up with was the image of the two dead bodies in the water. Now I am just guessing but if they died the moment the plane split, they wouldn't look like they did. What we see is the guy on the left is grabbing the right arm with his left arm, with a nice grip, the woman on the right. What I first thought was these two were alive not only when the plane split, but all the way down. I am basing this on the grip alone. Imagine you are the two of them, the plane splits and you are buckled into your chair plummeting 20,000 ft. I f it were me, I would be grabbing the arm of the person next to me. Especially if it is a loved one. I might be wrong with they way they were positioned made me think this. The big home in this is they probably would have passed out on the way down and died as peaceful as possible. Adds nothing to the story, just a thought I had.
I also noticed when Kate sees the case for the first time in the water, a smile and a sigh of happiness comes across her face. This is something she has been missing dearly. Is this another case of Charlie and the guitar? What if she wanted it bad enough, the island made it ?appear' like it did Charlies guitar? It's pretty obvious to anyone the toy plane seems to be the most important thing in the world to her. Just look at what she went through to get it. I have mentioned it before but here is a picture of her playing with a makeshift leaf plane in the pilot episode:http://www.lost-media.com/modules.php?name=coppermine&file=displayimage&album=3&pos=317http://www.lost-media.com/modules.php?name=coppermine&file=displayimage&album=3&pos=319The Charlie idea may seem like a stretch but what were the odds of Charlie finding his guitar in a tree right where he and Locke were standing? Maybe the case ended up where it is through similar circumstances. At first I thought only Sawyer and Sayid knew about the voices. Turns out Sayid told Jack about them. And according to their conversation, Jack seems to associate the voices as being ?the others'. I think after Jack saw his dad walking around, he is very open to suggestion about what is going on on this island. Sayid of course says it was just the wind playing tricks. Shannon says Boone and Locke have been going into the jungle for the last 4 days. If we take into account the episode they found the hatch, (All Cowboys), and this episode, there was one episode separating them. What is the timeline between spisodes supposed to be? This part was questionable to me. For timeline reasons mostly. Just want to be sure.
At the bank there wasn't much. Except for one glaring thing I noticed (almost too late). It made me wonder if it was a prop problem or something more. With a dhow like this, I lean towards the deliberatness of this. When Kate goes in as Ms. Maggie Ryan, coffee table and old theater photographer, there Is a big lamp with globe shaped lights on it. At first I thought this to be nothing. The lights were off:http://www.lost-media.com/modules.php?name=coppermine&file=displayimage&album=147&pos=317then, as soon as the robbery starts, the lights somehow turn on and stay on throughout the robbery. What does this mean?http://www.lost-media.com/modules.php?name=coppermine&file=displayimage&album=147&pos=336What was the name of the town Mark mentions for some great small town theaters? I tried to catch it but my Spanish stinks. All I caught was Rio Dulso. They are in New Mexico right?
Kate obviously has some sort of training. She knows how to use a gun, very well I might add. And she head butts people. What kind of woman headbutts people? Watch the scene where she shoots Jason in the leg. She picks up the loose gun and shoots 2 guy in a matter of seconds. Both in two opposite directions. She is a heck of a shot. Did her dad train her or was she in the military? This is puzzeling. Some have said she is undercover but I haven't seen much evidence of this. The bank job was picked and planned all by her. Something or someone told her the toy plane was located in box 815. how did she find this out? Side note about the coffee table book and the old theater, I think this is a homage to Seinfeld. Kramer wrote a coffee table book and even invested in an old NY theater. (the one where Elaine looses the button on her blouse)
Back to Lost. What is this thing behind Sawyer?http://www.lost-media.com/modules.php?name=coppermine&file=displayimage&album=147&pos=431I found it interesting. That's about it. Boone grabs the axe before Sawyer can. I don't think Locke knew or cared about Sawyer and the case. His primary concern was opening the hatch. Was the axe for clearing around the hatch or make a new, secret path? I think path is where I am leaning. Boone ?isn't there an easier way to get there?'
Locke ?the easiest way isn't always the best'
Locke continues to keep his secret. I am sure the axe was used to help clear the area around the hatch as well. Rose is awesome. She is fast becoming one of my favorites. Someone mentioned it yesterday and I was jealous they did cause it was my thought. I can't remember who it was so I will give credit where credit is due. I think Rose is the spiritual version of Locke. Locke can help you in one way, Rose in another. Rose is very motherly, Locke is fatherly, and offers to pray with Charlie. Something he probably hasn't done since he confessed to the priest. Charlie really needs help. That guy is a mess.
Here is one for the conspiracy people out there, was the fat man at the bank also in on it. I say no. But it is pretty convienent the gun slid right to Kate and they don't shoot the big guy. In fact up until they knock him on the head, the robbers handle him with kid gloves. Did he know Kate was in on it? What other excuse would the robbers have used to get Kate into the back room? I wrote this idea down last night and then crossed it off. Just thought I would post it anyway.
She gets the crap knocked out of her. At first I thought it was just the one hit but her face is bruised like a peach. She is willing to go through a lot to get this darn toy plane.
On the back of Jason's jacket, upper left side, two letters are visible. The first one is a backwards ?R' and the other one is an ?A'. They both looked like they were patched on the exposed side of the jacket, not the inside. If it is backwards, an ?A' can be flipped and will look the same. So what does this spell? No idea. Just thought it was odd. Couldn't find a screen cap, sorry.
I didn't really catch the name of the place Shannon stay at for a while. My Spanish is bad but my French is downright horrible. All I caught was Centri Pais? I could look it up, I know. And what was the boys name? LeRon? If you get to the script before I do, thanks. I think locations are important on this show. Always worth looking up.
The lies Kate tells. Tells three big ones in this episode. First one is telling Sawyer the case is hers. Second one is stealing the key and pretending it wasn't in the wallet. Third on is when she tells Jack there are only guns, bullets, and money in the case. If she is undercover, she should take another class of lying 101 cause she sucks at it. They key slight of hand is why she tells Jack she will get the wallet herself. Right when she is pulling it out, you see her fingers slide in and quickly take the key out. Very slick, but not to slick for Jack. I give props to Jack for not being a fool. Although, he does lie to Sawyer to get the case back. Really matches the title "Whatever the Case May be". I thought it was odd Jack mentions the reason s why he didn't burn the pilot with the other dead. "I needed to bury him". This guy has some serious guilt and dad issues. He couldn't bury his father so he buried the closest thing. The first to die. Here is everything you ever wanted to know about cephalexin:http://www.nlm.nih.gov/medlineplus/druginfo/medmaster/a682733.htmlI guess Jack wasn't bs'ing.
Sawyer knows Kate is a liar and tries to warn Jack. I think Jack knows but for some reason he continues to help Kate. Does he have a crush on her or is he just curious about what is really in the case? I think he suspects there is something else in the case. And given her past he should be suspicious of her. Sorry to jump around so much. Pretty much following the episode scene by scene. So back to the bank, how does Kate get the customer key without a signatory card? Did she get it from the man she killed, the man she loved? She tells Sawyer she was married for a little while and it didn't work out. Was it her husband she killed? To open to speculate. Those who now know Kate is a killer include Jack and Sawyer. Odd little love triangle they are writing here. What kind of murder was it? Accidental or deliberate? Did she have a direct or indirect role in it? Did her actions, or lack thereof, force someone else to kill the person she is talking about? This is what we know of Kate's journey. Grew up in Robs a bank in New Mexico (right?). gets arrested up in northern Pennslyvania, assuming this place really exists:http://www.lost-media.com/modules.php?name=coppermine&file=displayimage&album=19&pos=36It was the only Harrison Valley I could find in the US. Somehow she gets out. Maybe she escaped and trecked to Australia. Someone mentioned yesterday if she was picked up for back robbery, an FBI agent would be notified. I am starting to think she got arrested for something stupid. The locals realized she was a bank robber and called the Feds. Kate escapes easily, given her apparent training, and leaves for places unknown, possibly Australia. Somehow the marshall followed her trail well enough to track her to Australia and post a ?Most Wanted' picture in the post office. We all knows what happens from there. That's the best I can piece her Australian trip together. Now the plane. Right wing has a decal on it with the numbers 5025. At first I was sure it was a WWII fighter or bomber. Upon further review I don't think that at all. Looks too modern to be a military aircraft. And it only has 2 props, with each engine having only one blade. Probably broken off over the course of time. I have seen enough History channel and History Wings channel to be pretty sure of this. If there are any pilots or military out there I would love to hear your opinion. I am guessing it is from around the 30's or 40's. Still around the time of WWII but I doubt it served in any military capacity. I am going to try and look for a picture. Some last notes, it takes Locke three episodes (according to my math) to set Boone up for ?conversion'. Don't know how many days on the island it is. I think that is about it.
