CHAPTER 7
The Hatches...As I mentioned under the DI section, the initiative was created to research six areas of study - meteorology, psychology, parapsychology, zoology, electromagnetism, and utopian social [splice]. Additionally, according to the Orientation video, the hatch the fusies stumbled upon is Station 3 (The Swan). The original purpose of The Swan was to studythe unique electromagnetic fluctuations emanating from this sector of the island. We have also been introduced to a hatch on the tailies side of the island; however, at this time we do not have any information relating this hatch to one of the five remaining areas of study. We do, however, have information that the five other areas of study did actually occur on the island - the polar bears in the video. Given that there are polar bears on the island and in the video, I believe it is safe to assume all six areas are on the island. It appears as though not all of the hatches are following the numbers protocol. The second hatch appears to have been abandoned and we have not seen anyone entering numbers. I realize that does not necessarily mean that someone isn't, but based on the condition of the hatch interior, I would guess that the hatch has been abandoned since the incident. Does this imply that the only hatch following the protocol is the Swan? IMO, this implies that the Swan is the control center and/or power source of the island. How exactly does this correlate with what we know of the incident, the monster, and the others on the island? As I mentioned in The Island section, I believe that there is some type of natural reactor (or other power source) housed behind the concrete in the Swan. The Swan being sealed by 8 feet of concrete (last seen at Chernobyl), imo, strengthens my theory. This is most likely related to the meteorite that formed the crater on the island. I would guess that this would produce enough energy to power the entire island. This is what requires the protection of the monster and... ...the gunroom. According to A friend, the intended viewer and their partner had a responsibility in the hatch. (Try to define what that would be. Right now, you THINK it's to push a button. Why do you need a gun room to push a button? And not just any gun room, but a gun room with varied firearms. Ask anyone in Law Enforcement. That's quite the varied gunroom!). And what a gunroom it is. But why would the pushers need such a varied arsenal? Especially so many close-combat weapons (e.g.; many pistols, a shotgun, etc.)? Whatever they were to be used against must have been either large in number, or fast and powerful. What about all of the heavy equipment that would be required that we have not seen? Where is the boat dock or landing strip that would be required to bring such equipment to the island? Where are the living quarters for the people who constructed all of the hatches and the scientists? I'm guessing that we have only seen about 20 percent of the island and that once we learn more about the "heart of the island" (discussed under The Monster section) we will see these other structures.
