In Ana's flashbacks, we see that Ana was a cop. She was just returning from a 4 month leave after having being shot and left for dead while on-duty. She has been through therapy, but still not recovered. We find out that her mother was also a cop and was now Ana's captain, she also tries to keep an eye on Ana. We find out that Ana had a chance to ID the man that shot her, but didn't. We later see her following the guy and then executes him...empties her gun into him as a matter of fact. A few more important things that we learned in Ana's FB's: 1) Her killing the guy was quite planned, she did not use her issued gun to do it (or she would have been caught) 2) She must be good at bluffing, because her therapist released her to go back to work. 3)We now know why she has a thing about asking if people have kids...she was pregnant when she was shot. We now have a base for why Ana is so paranoid all the time...she trusted the guy that shot her when he said he was a student, the situation that she is now in calls for a lot of trust that she just can't give. At one point, Libby says that Ana is not a good judge of character -Libby refers to Nathan (even though she herself suspected Nathan too) -We see that she did not catch on to Goodwin until much later -We know that she took a liking to Jack in the airport -We see her turn on Mike and Jin after she shoots Shannon. A comparison that I noted: Ana felt dead inside after losing her baby, and sought revenge on the man that did it. The moment Ana saw Sayid holding Shannon, she realized that she had just done to him what that guy had done to her, and that would explain why she reacted the way she did...she expected the same to happen to her. Sayid, who already was dead inside over Nadia and his past, felt he had nothing left to lose after losing Shannon, the one bright spot in his life in many years, and was not afraid of Ana killing him. Sayid seemed to have picked up on Ana's "I'm already alone" comment and run with it when they talked. His interrogation skills have once again served him well. Ana only lets him go after she is asked what happened to the guy that shot her.....she said that he was never caught. We see a furthering of emphasis on the way that the two camps were living. We spend this episode watching our middies on a golf course, and then watching Jack trying to save Sawyer's life with his skill and supplies. This after we spent last week watching the tailies helpless to treat their sick, and on the run from danger. It seemed to me that Sayid freaked a little when he was told that Walt was taken...you know, since he had just seen him. How would he explain that? Eko must have a pretty good back story as well....he wasn't going to answer Jack's questions, and said it was because anything he said would make him more angry...which after the Locke thing, yeah I believe that would have been the case. Eko also picked up that Jack knew Ana....so he agreed to take him to her. I think this was because Jack would be someone that Ana actually saw before the crash, and would remember and maybe trust enough to relax a little and keep everything from flareing up any further. All in all, there wasn't much to this episode...at least not as much as I expected, but still good.http://www.livejournal.com/community/pondering_lost/92880.html?mode=reply
