Ya know how we all kept wondering why Walt was wet when he appeared to Shannon?
We thought it may have something to do with him being taken while out at sea, or maybe he was in the water, or the fact that they keep alluding to there being something in the water?
Well , while I was working on my "whispers may not be bad" theory..I had a realization.
Remember I had pointed out that Walt was not simply wet in the visions, he was dripping, he had water pouring off of him like it was being dumped on him.
Now think back to the shooting......it was raining! Not just rain, one of the island's downpours and everyone had water pouring off of them and they were all soaked and dripping!
I personally belive that this confirms that the vision of Walt to Shannon was of a warning nature by one (or a group) that could see the future, but did not have the power to be more clear. I don't know what this has to do with the translation about the button... but it does fit very well with the dripping water, telling her that they are getting closer, and the "shh".
I still have a suspicion that the vision of Walt that was projected was not projected by Walt, but by "the whisperers" or another such group that mean our survivors no harm, and they used the image of Walt because they knew that that would get attention better than whispers or a stranger.
Why Shannon?
My thoughts would have to be based on the fact that it is commonly thought that children are more open-minded to the paranormal. Out of our current group, Shannon is the youngest and has the least formed convictions about what is and is not "real". She had suffered two recent tragic losses (her Dad and Boone) was feeling very lonely, and was most seeking answers....she was asking to be lead.
Think about it....Sayid only saw Walt after he wanted to.
Nobody as of yet has heard the whispers when they were not frightened and alone except for this episode when everyone was very frightened and questioning and a death was about to happen.
Then I also started thinking about this idea floating around that people are "special". Boone said that Shannon was special as well as a few others having the same things said about them. What if Shannon was "special"?
What if the reason that the warning visions of Walt, the rain, and the whispers coming out in full-force right before her death were all a last-ditch effort to save her? We have not seen such activity surrounding any other death so far. I know that this is not fully formed yet, but I wanted to put it out there before I forgot about it.http://www.livejournal.com/community/pondering_lost/89777.html#cutid1
