I just want to say for the record that I have one major problem with the theory that the blast doors coming down is timed with the "food drop":
it was NOT timed with the counter in mind.
We know that the doors have come down before, and maybe many times, because of the map.....but if pushing the button is vital, why trap them away from the button?
Again, I think the button is only to let whoever know that they are there and alive, so maybe not pushing it for the few moments they were trapped is no biggie if whoever knew that they were trapped. Either way, one theory will have to be wrong...either the button is not vital, or the doors/drop were not really timed properly. One one section of the map, just outside the hexegon on the left, there is a notation of "not conducive to 108, do not attemp to explore" (or to that effect)
Which means that the person/s that made the map were concerned about what could be seen in the 108 min time frame of the button.........this lends itself to another question:
If there were always a two person team, why worry about one person getting back in 108 mins? Wouldn't the other person be there to push the button? Does this mean we've had other single folks in the hatch? Or would this mean that one was exploring behind the other's back during his shift while his partner was sleeping? And since I goofed and didn't record this time....can anyone remember if the doors went back up, or just the one that Locke and Not Henry pryed up? This could mean that the doors do stay down long enough to have written quite a bit at a time if they did not go up at the end on their own.http://community.livejournal.com/pondering_lost/101159.html#cutid1
