Ya know that clickity, scratchy sound the monster made the first time Eko faced it? While it was showing the images of Eko's past? Well, I heard it in the "I Do" episode....a couple times. First I heard near the beginning, when Kate and Sawyer were snipping at each other about the fish biscuit. I heard it again when they were at the worksite.Am I crazy??

I'm not entirely sure that I have the correct qualifications to answer the last question, but I will check "I Do" to see if I hear the same thing that you do.

I asked over at ABC too (about the sound, not my level of sanity) and a bunch of people were replying "oh yeah, I heard it here and here, and oh in that other episode too when this was happening in that one place" type stuff. I'm wondering if they're not understanding the particular noise I'm talking about? Because I certainly never noticed in other parts/episodes unless the monster was obviously there. Hmmm.

I think I found the sound that you were reffering to, but attributed it to the noise that the cage made with Sawyer poking at the button (throwing rocks against metal parts of the cage) in the first scene, and the other scene I didn't catch it.

I read somewhere that the monster sounds were heard in the Expose episode when the spiders were coming after Paulo was bitten. I didn't notice it at the time but will definately pay attention when I watch it again.

It is being discussed in a lot of places - I attributed the noise to the spiders when I first saw it, now people are saying that Smokey manifested itself as spiders. I don't buy the whole manifested thing (since it's a made up expression). You can manifest anger, but you can't make fathers or brothers or horses or even spiders appear out of thin air. You can make holographs appear out of thin air, but not solid objects that can bite you. So, a Walt talking backwards is possible out of thin air, but not a cat you can pet or a bird that can crash into a window.

I agree. Although, for sake of arguement, Cooper could have been a holograph for all we know at this time. I mean, Locke didn't actually go in and touch him. Right? Doesn't mean it's the monster doing it though...hehe Same with Jack seeing his dad too, I guess. Hmm.
I watched the Expose episode again and yep, I can hear the clickety sound when the spiders are coming. So, to the people in the monster-manifests camp, what was being manifested in the scenes with Sawyer and Kate in the cages, when it was only the two of them talking, and the sound could be heard?
I don't like the monster. For me it's the one thing they need to start explaining or offering more clues about.

Yes, we did. And we found out that The Monster is not part of, controlled by The Others. Juliet said "We don't know what it is but we know it doesn't like our fence." Soooo, back when our Losties + Danielle encountered it on the way to the Black Rock, Danielle had said it was a security system. If it's not part of The Others' security system, what is it part of??
It did it's flashie business on Juliet. Or, it did some sort of flashie business on Juliet. Do you think it did it to Kate too? She looked a little out of it afterwards too. It seemed to be more of a violent flashing than when it was flashing Eko images of his past. And then later, at the fence, Juliet stared that monster down just like Eko and Locke have. I suppose she was confident the fence would stop it....?

I think it was a part of the DHARMA security system - and the others are not privy to how it works - just that they were safe within the sonic fence in the DHARMA barracks.
