I suddenly fear for John Locke. One of the things I scribbled in my notes during last week's episode was that "he's no longer safe in the They Wouldn't Kill HIM pool," and the feeling just continues to grow. I even went to SpoilerFix to get some reassurance, to see *something* mentioned about him in future episodes, and found nothing. I checked LostMedia's promo pics for the next three episodes and while I did find Locke in the Nikki/Paulo episode pics, it also looks like Paulo is sitting by a grave in the Locke pics. Doh! Is Locke a ghost the way Ana Lucia was to Eko? AND...this week *is* a Locke flashback episode. I have been pondering a few things the last day or so. Maybe Locke didn't accidently blow up the station when he entered 77. Maybe he *did* blow it up on purpose but the "enter 77" really wasn't part of it. He obviously knew there was C4 in the building cuz we saw he took some. He was conveniently away from the building before it blew up...and he was not running to catch up to them. And think about it...if there was a takeover or something by the 'hostiles' and that message about entering 77 was some way to raise an alarm, what sense is there to have to sit thru *and beat* games of chess to get to it??? Plus, when the chess game ended and the Dharma Dude message popped up, it looked like it was interupted, it was already going. Maybe Mikhail knew that entering 77 did not blow up the station. Maybe Locke knew that Mikhail knew that. Could be one reason he didn't want Mikhail along, or alive. So what started out as a joking (?) comment by someone on a messageboard about Locke being hellbent on destroying all the hatches has taken on a life of its own in my pondering mind. Maybe Locke is indeed pissed cuz the island fooled him, ruined his faith. And in the promo for this week we saw Locke saying "I'm not looking for Jack," and then talking to Ben instead. Ben, who told Locke he was one of the good ones, that he was on his way there to get him. And now Mikhail telling him he is flawed and weak and about to expose him. There was also something that looked like an explosion in the preview but I'd need to watch it again to see just what it was, whether it's old footage or new. Although I don't like Locke the way he is now, I don't want him to die as this evil ass that he's become.

I don't think there is anything I can say to reasure you that John Locke is safe.  The main reason for that is that I don't know that he is safe.  It would be a big step for the show if any of the "main" characters are killed off.  I don't consider Charlie or Claire to be main characters - the only ones that fit that bill in my mind are Locke, Kate, Jack and maybe Sawyer.  I don't subscribe to the "they can't kill someone with unfinished stories" since they have done so in the past.  So, in summary - Is Locke safe?  I don't know.
