Unfortunatly I'm new to Lost.  Im Im getting to watch it now while living in Korea forced to be a borred housewife.  Ive only seen the first three episodes because they only just started airing them here but I was intregued when i heard Jin and Sun talking cus i half understood them... they cut the subtitles out o.o and subtitled all the english in korean.  Anyway what got me was thier behavior.  I dont yet know thier whole backstory but they seem so unlike all the koreans Ive met here even the ones who dont speak english are so very friendly and have a serious lack of personal bubble space that can be very unnerving to americans used to wide open spaces and personal bubles.  I once had a little old ajumoni walk up to me on the street and start patting my cheeks and cheerfully chatting away completly incomrehensable to me.  And when it comes to babies OMG they are beyond friendly and way more accomidating than americans of children.  So I dont know if Jins behavior was not supposed to be taken to portray a norm for South Koreans or not or if living in the burbs or Seoul has given me a different look at people than i would get if i lived on one of the southern islands hes reported to be from but he and Sun just seem a little off to me... I have seen some Korean men of his generation treat thier wives with the level of controll he exhibits, and of course there are husbands like that across the world, I just hope the writers arent going to paint a picture of them being the standard for koreans because all in all Ive found Korea to be a very friendly country.  Not without flaws but very welcoming and kind and very American friendly.  I guess I will contenue to watch as the episodes air here and see if thier portrayal changes.  but I felt the need to say something in the defense of my current hosts.

A very good observation.  I won't spoil it for you but suffice it to say, that they are portraying Jin that way for a reason - and things do change - have patience, and enjoy the ride.
