Did anyone else catch that Echo misquoted the 23rd Psalm? He said, "though I walk through the shadow of the valley of death." In the Bible it is, "though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death." I don't think this has any significance to the plot but do think it is a basic mistake on the part of the producers. Or, perhaps they knowing changed the words to put shadow first because of the black cloud Echo confronted.

Depends which version of the Bible he was quoting from. IE the King James version is different from the New Revised Standard, which is different from the American Standard, etc. The passages are basically the same, but with slight variations in the wording, in an attempt to make the Bible easier to read and understand than the original translations.

On the FAQ I saw that it had been noted that Mr. Eko reversed a line in Psalm 23. It was indicated that it might be a matter of versions of the bible, not a true reversal. Here is a comparison of several versions.

King James Version

23:4 Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.

New International Version

23:4 Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.

New American Standard Version

23:4. Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I fear no evil; for Thou art with me; Thy rod and Thy staff, they comfort me.

And if you go on this website

http://www.innvista.com/culture/religion/bible/compare/shepherd.htm

it shows 29 versions. xxx of which quote verse 4 in the manner which Eko did. And he has made this obvious reversal several times over a couple episodes. Very odd.
