In Sayid's flashback in One Of Them, the soldier in the back of the troop carrier is Kate's step-father. The picture that he was holding was of a young Kate. In Maternity Leave, The man talking to Ethan outside the Nursery in the DHARMA medical facility is NOT Kate's step-father.
