You used the term "individuation" while describing the character experience on LOST in your email (did I? Hmmm). Was this Jungian term used deliberately, and if so, how does it pertain?

So in other words, "what's the island, A?"!!

HAH! Nice try, boys!

Let's see what I can expand on there.

Jung felt that we have three unconcious, divided elements in our nature, the anima, the animus, and the shadow.

Our lives are an attempt to unify these entities, to understand what our soul wants, what our mind wants and what our inner desires want, and to find a place where they three become whole.

The survivors are dealing with this same process but with past, present and future.

Individuation is an alchemical rebirthing, a self-realization, and attuning of our inner- and outer- selves. The survivors are having to face their past decisions, their current situation, and their oncoming future in an attempt to make them constructive to their own survival.

I hope that helped!

In Freemansonry, this process of finding a personal balance was called "squaring the circle". It united the sacred and the profane, heaven and earth, the eternal with the now.

Balance. Again!
