This statement about Jacob by CollsLost - Also everyone is assuming that Jacob actually exists, these people are excelent at playng pretend. There is no reason that there couldn't have been a person in the back room with a pre recorded msg, or even a person hiding under the floor boards. Its easier to recruit followers when they think that you have a direct line to god. ..And hey there is alot to be said just for the power of suggestion in a situation like this.
I think with moderate ammounts of technology MUCH of what has appeared to be magical could be theatrical. appearing where one is not...hearing voices. there are cameras everywhere, why not projectors?

Got me to thinking. (I know that that is hard for people to imagine - me thinking...  )
It is quite possible that a lot of the monster and the monster's other personas and Jacob, are manufactured for effect. That we got a hint of that with the theatrical aspects of the others in the beginning with the fake beards, etc... And the outright statements that Ben is the great manipulator - but what if Ben is also being manipulated - that there is someone else behind the curtain (the real wizard of Oz, er... I mean - wizard of Lost Island). That, there isn't really ghosts or spirits or people trapped in other dimensions, but that things like Jack hearing something on the speaker in his cell, etc... is the main man (the real Jacob - a living person) behind the scenes watching everything and manipulating them.
Anyway, just a thought, and thanks to CollsLost for the idea...
