I've seen a lot of people claiming that LOST is a SCI-FI show and it turns people off because of that. LOST is a drama with unexplained things going on and viewers have jumped to the conclusion that all the unexplained phenomenon on LOSThave SCI-FI explanations. So far everything that has been explained has had a perfectly realistic and logical explanation. There has been nothing explained by SCI-FI ormystical powers. For example, the light coming out of the hatch last season when Locke was pounding on it after the death of Boone - was just Desmond shining a light up the shaft to investigate the disturbance he heard from Locke pounding on it. After the episode aired with the magical light answering Locke's plea's for an answer, the internet went wild with every possible fantastic explanation in the book. I trust that everything that seems fantastic will be explained. Things that seemed fantastic include how people survived a plane that broke up at 30,000 feet. As we saw when we were in the Other's village, the plane wasn't that high when it broke up. How could the others appear from the water - we now know they have a sub - the list goes on.As i noted at the end of season 1:Lostwillonlyrevealwhatisfeasibleto99.9%oftheviewersLINK"They will leave hints to things Sci-Fi, but we will only see verification of things not Sci-Fi. Otherwise, they will loose a large fan base that is not Sci-Fi oriented (i.e., those people that can't make a leap of faith). Even psuedo-science has it's limits as to what the masses will believe, so to keep the majority of viewers, the show will rely on clues that Sci-Fi fans will pick up on but won't detract for the other viewers. The theorists will get plenty more clues to keep them going over the summer, and the non-theorists will still wonder what the heck is going on with this island and these people, but will be intrigued enough to come back for more in the Season 2 opener"So, in answer toIs LOST a SCI-FI show?no, it is a drama that appeals to sci-fi enthusiasts.
