Desmond had a pentagon shaped emblem on the shirt he was wearing when he encountered Jack in their stadium run. The hotel chain that Jin started to work for when he met Sun had a hexagon shaped emblem, and Dharma Initiative uses octagon shaped emblems. We surmise that the Dharma Initiative has six parts or sections. What if the Dharma Initiative is one part of a larger organization that uses shapes (like petagons and hexagons) to signify each part?
